This is a scene from the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens Little Dorrit. The key scene is set in the Mrs Merdle's Venice palazzo. For this scene, Hampton Court Palace was pressed into service as a suitable location and for the illumination - Indochine lanterns. Some additions were made to the lanterns to make them fit the style of the period - Venice circa 1825, but they lit up well and the director loved them.

The location clearly shows that the students are in a class room and we can see very few things , like just some empty tables. There are no curtains, nothing on the tables, only two characters and another building at the back.

To study the costumes in BBC drama films,I researched BBC costume dramas:

. The costume designer,James Keast destroyed all accessories and 750 costumes inside, many of which were authentic Victorian pieces. Though some of the scenes show the same actor wearing two different outfits, the team hopes it will not take away from the somber feel of the film.
Looking at other BBC films costumes , i observed that most of the them are according to the story historical and cultural. They are the clothes depending on the people living in a particular area. An example of which is below:
